Trump as approved the project Golden Dome which is being undertaken by space force.
Possible 3 years time for some sort of practical implementation with early investment of 25bn usd.
With falcon 9, starlink, starshield system they already have the experience. Once starship goes operational it will be pretty much easy to have thousands of satellite for this task, they already have thousands of dual use satellite in the form of starlink.
Do note long back and many a times musk has stated how 5th gen aircrafts are outdated. It's because of this, similar sentiments have been shared by Trump too.
Golden DOM will consist of
>series of satellites to monitor various threats
>series of satellites which can be used to intercept various threats, aka Space Based Interceptors
Other command stuff for this. These obviously can also be used against other satellites.
