>doesn't require gorillion amount of water like rice or wheat

>is supported by government of india under millet mission

>is considered superfood because a small grain contains all the necessary amino acids/protein

And why exactly our farmkangers not growing this instead of growing rice? Shouldn't we be producing millets, quinoa etc. instead of wheat and rice.

No idea what people got against rice. Basmati rice from India is literally a high cultural achievement.

Millets are better and Quinoa is even better. We are not in famine situation that we need to gobble up rice.

It takes literal insane skill and time to grow good rice.

Chinese/Japanese/Asians/Whites can't do it btw.

Growing it and harvesting it is an art, cooking it as well.

Replacing it for more functional things is just bugman thinking.

Like we have IQ tests, that doesn't mean we go around and kill people under 80 IQ. Or we can measure height, we don't go around and kill people under a certain height lol

And yes Quinoa has been around as "superfood" for a long time, I remember some women shilling it to me 15 yrs ago and it never took off.

Btw Rice appears in the Vedas, Puranas, Mahabharata and the Ramayana. It's literally an Aryan (Indian) staple food.

Rice tastes much better though. Can you try to imagine what mutton biryani with quinoa would taste like?

yeah. india had our own wheat which has low glycemic index. look at its cost now compared to normal wheat.

green/white revolution and its consequences have been disastrous. doctors are advising people to stop eating wheat and rice as it's making people diabetic. we have started eating millets at home as well.

Quioa makes for good patties. As a rice replacement, I find its usability limited. Millets are better for that.

Other than that, fully agree. Fuck wheat and rice.

Rice from vedic and puranic era is very different from what is sold now. Brown and black rice are closer to it, than white rice is.

But not worth it.

I am just saying if you are a vegcuck jeet you should promote Quinoa, Winged Beans, millets - atleast improve your diet. These are genuinely good alternatives.

Emmer wheat. Just purchased some, making a recipe which I'll post on /ck/ tommorow. My mom is also helping me and interested in it.

Chana/Chickpeas have even lower energy footprint than Quinoa.

Overall there is nothing wrong introducing new grains/foods into Indian diet, but replacing 1 completely is a stupid idea.

Also things like being skinnyfat, being diabetic comes from overeating, not what you eat.

Indians simply eat too much and move/workout too little on average.

true true

>replacing 1

sure, we anyway over produce.

point is that winged beans, quinoa are not water intensive so they can be good alternatives for places like punjab etc.
