>The mehendipur balaji temple is located in rajasthan somewhere in the dausa district. i have a personal story related to this which i will later share in the post. so whenever i try to research about this certain topic one thing that always comes up is its long rulebooks of what u should not do while visiting the temple i will share some rn it goes like >Don’t accept any prasad from anyone >Do not accept any tabeez / vibhuti / mala etc or any cloth etc except from the main temple priest on your request only >Take care no one steals any Piece of clothing like a handkerchief >Take care no one clips your hair (especially women) tie ur hair up. >Don’t go around areas except the main temple >Don’t look back as you return, and don’t answer if you hear anyone calling your name >Get away from the temple before the Hazoori arti >A few days before and during there , do panchakshari hanuman kavach >Keep a little Kapoor and something sharp of iron / steel on your person at all times. >Do not stay overnight in that area unless necessary. thats a long list right? anyways so let me go ahead and talk about the hazoori aarti first of all hazoori means in front of the god so the aarti is carried out infront of our bhagwan hanuman the visitors are advised to return before this aarti cause things get tense. Hazoori Aarti is the main frontline aarti in Mehendipur Balaji where people who are possessed rituals react violently. Tourists avoid it because it’s extremely intense, and emotionally disturbing. now the thing is >do people really get possessed? in my opinion yes they do but not in that dramatic way the tv shows you sometimes they are affected by black magic someone did to them or sometimes they are possessed by their ancestors due to unrest of their spirits. They thought nothing of it until an Assamese local heard about the missing boy. He told them he was sure that the goat was actually their grandson, transformed by a Mayong witch. According to him, the boy turned into a goat by day and back into a man after dusk, used by the witch for her rituals. He warned that if the goat crossed Mayong’s boundary, it would die instantly. After this revelation, the goat never appeared again.He was never found. >Tejimola is a lonely young girl tortured by her cruel stepmother. One day, while her loving father is away, the stepmother beats her to death with a dheki (pestle) and buries her in the backyard. From the grave, Tejimola returns as a bottlegourd plant, but when the stepmother realizes this, she destroys it. Tejimola then reappears as a lemon shrub, crying out whenever someone tries to pluck its fruit, until the shrub is thrown into the river. There she transforms into a lotus, which her father discovers on his way home. The lotus sings to him, revealing her identity. To prove it, she turns into a sparrow, and her father takes her home, confronts the stepmother, and he kicks are out of the house. Finally, Tejimola regains her human form. >A woman unknowingly marries a serpent disguised as a charming man. At night, she begins hearing scales dragging across the floor. She soon discovers her husband sheds his human skin after sunset, becoming a giant cobra.Warned by her mother, she burns the shed skin before he can return to it. The serpent shrieks in agony, thrashes wildly, and bursts through the roof before finally collapsing and dying in the flames. Assam is an absolute state located in northeastern india, filled with rich cultures traditions and its folklore. its a shame that we don't really talk about our unique folklores. I cherrypicked the best and intriguing legends and folklores. >baak A Baak is a long limbed, grey creature that lives in ponds and riverbanks. It imitates human voices to lure victims. Villagers say if you hear your family members calling you from the water at night don’t answer. because it pulls you into the water. many cases emerged where people were found dead near river. >Bira A terrifying female spirit feared for harming newborns causing nighttime distress, violent fits, bite marks, and drained vitality. Often linked to poltergeist activity, she may be driven by twisted maternal grief. Families perform childbirth rituals to keep her away. >Chekama A shape shifting dark shadow that appears as animals or huge monstrous forms. Its hypnotic gaze can control victims and lure near water where it dwells. People protect themselves with water deity offerings. >Dohts clawed wetland spirits with slick, oily skin, hunting anyone who shows fear he can sense the fear so he preys on it. Lurking in marshes, they drag victims underwater and feast on flesh. Their presence explains the eerie silence of Assam’s swamps. This legend is very well known and its prolly one of my fav ones. >Bordoisila is a married female spirit who is also referred to as the Goddess of Storm. According to legends, she lives with her husband in a faroff land and visits her mother’s home in Assam during Bohag Bihu [the Assamese New Year in April] Her presence is felt through wind and storm, before and after the Bihu celebrations. Before Bihu, when she is said to be coming to visit her native, she is said to be happy and therefore there is a strong but pleasant and delightful breeze in the air. However, while returning, after Bihu, she is upset to go back and her anger and tantrums result in turbulent thunderstorms that often cause some destruction >added this cause i found it, supercutey behavior. >Jokhini is the Assamese name for the commonly known female ghost/witch. >Nidhivan Situated near vrindavan where lord krishn spent his childhood days, this whole place is filled with positivity and divine aura just when u walk into this place u feel the energy shift like any other mandirs. And also This forest is sacred for the bhakts of shri krishn. The legend says Nidhivan is where Lord Krishna performs his >raas leela with radha rani and the gopis. >The mystical raas leela It is believed by the people who live near nidhivan or the locals states that >shri krishn to this day comes to nidhivan and performs the mystical raas leela with radha and the gopiyas >multiple locals believe that they have heard >Sound of melodious tunes of lord krishn bansuri >the sound of payal or ghungroo from the nidhivan as everyone dances in the forest >even the locals who are living there are given caution to not open the window or go the terrace in the nighttime. >they also states that after the evening all birds or monkeys flee the particular area where raas leela takes place. So as the sun sets and the evening aarti is done in nidhivan, everyone vacates the area as per the tradition no one is allowed to enter after the evening aarti even the guard sits way far from the entrance of nidhivan. They double check in the forest by looking everyone and making an announcement ki "koi hai toh abhi bahar aajao" and after that they close all 7 locks and close the temples in nidhivan and go about their way. >The priests also leave some clothes and food like some sweets and sometimes they look like they have been worn by someone or the food they left, was eaten already. >one of the most interesting mystery of nidhivan is their trees they are like eerily twisted thats not very nature like i have never seen any trees with that much of a twisted branch or some really weird trunks. The local legend about this goes something like these trees are not just ordinary trees they are Krishna's gopis. The legend says that these trees come alive at night and take the form of gopis, they merrily do their dance and once the sun rises they freeze in the position they were dancing in with the lord krishn. This was far most the most interesting legend I've read. >but what happens if someone hides and stays? It is believed that whoever stays back after evening aarti and witness the divine raas leela gets blinded or become mentally ill. Several locals says whoever stays back there after evening either lost their minds or turn up dead in the morning. There is a samadhi section in the mandir >The mandirs pandit states that the energy is so powerfull and sacred that a mere human who witness it cant comprehend it and hence cannot be able to speak again or completely lose their minds. >what do i think about nidhivan? Nidhivan is a great sacred forest filled with Krishna's divine energy. So just maybe >to protect the forest from being cut and make some building out of it they had to make some legends about the place. >but i also think that there is no smoke without fire so maybe Krishna visits sometime there and do the raas leela just our culture is so deeply connected with the earth this is a possibility of this happening. But people probably exaggerated this situation. >Anyways, I mostly appreciate the nidhivan legends to protect this mysterious forest till now and i hope the legend goes on so we can still visit this sacred place in the future.
