Some blogposting while I'm waiting for my chai to be done.
I don't really wanna go to an IIT. some of my Papa's friends are professors who worked in IITs on a contract basis as lecturers long ago. They told me that the academic pressure and load in IITs is excess.
There is an NIT 45 minutes from my house. Plus, I am an only child, and dad works in a different neighbouring City. So if I leave my city for kalej, mom will be alone. That's why I'm hoping to get into the NIT in my city. Even though my mom tells me not to think about these things and go wherever i a good opportunity, I can totally see the slight sadness in her face at the thought of me leaving home. I really hope i can get into the NIT in my city.

Just got absolutely buck broken by part advanced test (180 marks). Half the questions were from 4 chapters ahead of what we're doing in class. I don't think I'm even going to get a 50. I just treat advanced mocks like a test to see how good I can guess answers. Even today i guessed like 20/45 questions like I used to in 7th grade. Solved 10, but I don't think those will be any good either.

Also, word of advice: just focus on 5 year pyq of physics and chemistry for now. The math in JEE Main is often lengthy, so you should try and maximize the score in the other two subjects. Please pay attention to Chemistry, and your score will automatically improve.

I can't understand jack shit. Every fucking reaction has a different gimmick, nothing fucking makes sense. When I tried to do pyqs, all I did was just pick the most stable product without knowing what the fuck the reaction even is. I got them correct about half the time. Have you registered for improvement this year ? If not, you should. I'm gonna be honest, it's too late to start studying anything rn. Just watch formula revision lectures and try to solve past 10 years questions for every chapter in every subject. It will cover all concepts + approaches.
I'm going to be honest, if what you say is true, there's a less than 1 percent chance you'll even clear the cutoff. Try to look for other exams, such as NDA or Tata Steel trade apprentice, or try to sit for government polytechnic colleges. Those are relatively easy and competition is less. Atleast you won't be a neet. There's also IGNOU.

Milords, in these past few days, i have found a saving grace. i may be able to get a bachelors' in engineering from a reputed institute w/o going through anymore of this JEE nignoggery.
Apparently, IIT Madras has an online 4-year BS Degree programme. currently in 2 subjects:
1. Data Science and Applications (the one i'm interested in)
2. Electronic Systems
this will last 4 years. they will conduct a seperate qualifier round, in which they will provide 1 month of study material, and will have an offline exam. if you get more than 70% marks in it, you are officially into the Foundation Level of this Programme. each term will last 3 months, with 1 offline exam monthly, and weekly online assignments and recorded classes. they will also hold live sessions 3-4 days a week for clearing doubts.
there are 5 levels to this degree:
1. Foundation Level - 2 terms (can exit here with Foundation Level certificate)
2. Diploma in Programming - next 2 terms (can exit here with a Diploma certificate in programming)
3. Diploma in Data Science - next 2 terms (can exit here with a Diploma certificate in Data Science)
4. BSc in Programming and Data Science - next 3 terms (can exit here with a BSc Degree certificate in Programming and Data Science)
5. BS in Data Science and Applications - the remaining time. there are 5 mandatory courses and about 20+ optional courses. the official website is a little confusing about this.
having done all that, you would finally exit with a BS in Data Science and Applications. but that's not all. IIT Madras and IIT Ropar have joined up and introduced a little scheme: if a student can maintain a CGPA of 8+ through all the courses of his degree, he can get a chance to do offline M.Tech. in IIT Ropar w/o the need for a GATE rank. and if you still wish to give GATE, this degree is very much valid.

College is more than just academics. I did the DS degree for a while, did it with my offline college.
Verdict: It's good as a supplementary degree, not as a main degree. It's closer to an online course rather than a degree. The fees keep increasing after every term, and the exams are MCQ based. Course contents are alright, but most recruiters won't hire you based on this degree. The placements aren't that great, and the ones that do get placed do so because they had done something else before this degree.

The brochure is designed to be very appealing but the real world value is not as high as an actual degree.

You should do the degree as a side course, even if you bomb JEE you'll get into some tier-59 college. Get that degree along with this IITM course and then go for masters.

the truth is that i can't do this anymore. i wanna move on with my life and learn something else. my mama (maternal uncle) is a CSE professor in a tier-3 private college, that is how i got to know about this. he said i should pursue this full time and get into an IIT for a master's from here. my dad is freinds with a guy who's an actual IITian and his son is as well, who is currently in the USA, doing a Ph.D. in a CS related field. i am yet to ask him his opinion about this.
i will still however, try my best in JEE.

There are two subjects MAD1 and MAD2 which are about fullstack, and part of diploma level.

SWoL, JEE Main is shit easy. The level of physics and chemistry in it is laughable. Even if a pajeet starts from today itself, he can score upto 180 on the basis of these two subjects alone. Read NCERT, make short notes of each chapter, and practice last 5 year PYQs from this website called ExamSide. Afterwards, give mocks on NTA Abhyaas app. Just follow this for the next one month, and you might scrape by with core brach in a mid-tier NIT, or even a better branch in your homestate NIT. For math, just cover matrices, determinants, vector, 3-D, quadratic, ap and gp, PnC, Binomial and Probability. These topics alone will fetch you around 20-30 marks, whixh is enough for 90+%ile in math. Add coordinate geometry if you have good grip on it.
If you have trouble learning chemistry, do the following: look at some PYQs first. This will give you a general idea about what stuff if important in that chapter. Next, skim the chapter summary and headings to note the crux of chapter. Finally, divide the chapter in parts and note the formula/trend/reaction. After that, solve questions. Once all of this is done, give the chapter one thorough read. Sometimes they ask questions like: why is socl2 preferred while making alkyl halide from alcohol? Ans: by-products are so2 + hcl, gases which escape out.
reason for why pb is in both group 1 and group 2 test? Ans: it is soluble so gives positive test in grouo 2 as well. Such questions require theoretical understanding.
In physics, some questions are directly based on ncert exercise questions. Example: in fluids chapter, there is a question about air pressure on wings of airplane, in emi there is a question about potential across spokes of a wheel, in waves there is a question about finding equation of wave for a circle-like diagram with phase.
I would advise you to avoid video lectures. It is essentially spoon-feeding, and you will forget everything you learnt from those lectures within a week. Cut the middleman and study using NCERT.

Also, if your shift is not on first day, practise questions of previous shifts. Many times, 3-4 questions match, with only values changed.
For April attempt, practicing all January attempt questions is a must, as they often repeat questions.
JEE Main is a game of memorization and calculation speed. If you find it difficult to learn quickly, write stuff over and over. It will soon register by muscle memory alone.
And for the love of god, STOP WATCHING LECTURES!! If you must, just watch question solving videos to see tricks of approaching some typical problems. You can cover an average organic chapter from scratch in about 2 hours using NCERT, but with a lecture series, even a day would prove insufficient.
Also, solve PYQs using timer. Your average solving time should never exceed 2 minutes.

I'm starting my syllabus now. Gonna clear improvement board exams too for 75% eligibility criteria. Drop year is hell hole for me now I realised.
