I think it's extremely important to be comfortable in your own skin and also it's alright if you are in a situation which is not ideal - that's how you grow.

Like i was nerdish didn't really like movies parties etc. but was dragged along by my friends and it gave me more perspective, even though i didn't like.

I don't think it's boring part, it's important that you focus on your interests, efforts in it. Through that you will meet people or attract others who maybe interested in - you share stuff then...
