Cow became aghanya long ago in the vedas, as ashwamedha and the ox sacrifice themself were barred down later, since they were categorised as poor means of cosmic fuel. It was considered to be improper.

He probably wanted to say vaishnav are only one who don't eat meat but that's not true either. On other branches, many subsect refrain from meat, it depends on which specific sub sect of the said sampraday you initiated in. It all becomes really irrelevant since none of them have really gone to initiate in either of schools.
