I’m trying to trace the origin of a ghost story that my grandmother told me when I was younger, and I’m wondering if anyone else has heard a similar version or knows its name.
The story goes something like this:
There was a woman whose children died during infancy (or she was unable to keep her children alive). Eventually, she killed herself. After her death, she became a restless spirit.
It’s said that she wanders at night and looks into the windows of houses where there are infants. Only babies can see her, not adults. So if a baby suddenly wakes up crying in the middle of the night for no clear reason, elders would say it’s because the baby saw her watching from the window.
Has anyone else heard a similar story?
At first glance the story sounds similar to the La Irona lady from South American folklore but unlike that one, this seems pretty less malicious and more tragic. My grandmother isn't that familiar with mexican culture so it seems unlikely she jeetified a Mexican legend.

The air’s a bit cooler today. You can see summer coming up, I’m worried and also hopeful. Today was like any other day, although I had no work or encumbrance.
The fellow I’ve been posted up with continues to talk loudly on speaker-fone, it’s quite annoying. Almost like I’m a part of his house now, I also fear that his family is quite similar to mine only different in some class maybe.
Plans for summer are being built. And I have class tomorrow, meaning I have to sit and look busy while the group project burns itself.
Ive been having fun building up a routine of sorts, Ive noticed as soon as I begin to enjoy a place I graduate from it, I’ve been pained from my surroundings before but eventually you build something out of it, some semblance of joy out of your own ritual, but as soon as I do that, the pain stops and destiny takes over.
Manifesting definitely works, its not a wishing well or a beggars bowl, its something quite simple but hard to get, you get what you are, you cannot be what you are not, but you can change who you are.
Frankly its a decision, a decision to keep writhing in pain or deciding you’re done, and you dont go back to begging or checking.
