I noticed this in the US. No one stops to help women there, and men do not consider taking care of women to be their personal priority. Since women are seen as equals, they are more likely to be criticized and even retaliated against.
The less religious a society is, the lower women are considered in society. After removing all the religious woo woo, what remains is the fact that women are weaker, inferior men. It is only through myth that the female is elevated.
