Another reason is that future of India looks kind off bleak right now, multiple future problems like climate change, AI will affect India a lot worse than others but the country is not equipped to handle these, because we are still figuring out basic stuff right now that others completed decades ago.

Suppose you are dgh you are working hard on your studies for IITs and then there were some set of students which were shitting on you for no reason - mocking you.
They can mock all they want but what they couldn't take away from you was your genuine effort related to studies and next you were in IIT.
If you stopped instead and started fighting them or started focusing more on what students rest were thinking it would have hampered your growth so sometimes it's alright to keep your head down and work.
And if absolutely necessary build the other adjacent capability to confront and go for the kill (phrasing).
India can't afford the latter rn. Even china was hated, despite all the problems they kept their head down worked - spread positive PR about what were being done.

The thing is india is currently undergoing building phase. Things will not be that orderly. It's chaotic mess and yes we are figuring out.
Like everyday there's one new construction, new policy about manufacturing, industry. In fact you can say that our country is alive. Your youths have dreams of glory, our country is growing - this and next generation is the one which will be the one involved in building phase and deciding the fate of this nation.
It's like working on a software is fun more than maintaining it - but work phase has lots of errors, issues but it's a very fulfilling thing. Once it has matured - life is comfy but i doubt its as fulfilling and any change is way difficult (like in case of developed countries which are like mature softwares with lots of legacy burden).

I agree with this perception of 'slow' but there's no country which has scaled like India - only comparable is China. So sadly this perception is flawed.
We build more VB in 3 years than equivalent shatabdis in 70 years btw. We are expanding these tracks like 5000+ km per year and in 3 years we lay down more tracks than entire track length of UK.
Problem is that the baggage we carry is too big, so changes are not abruptly visible. Why i said 2027 because many projects are culminating by then or start to show visible public results outside the data which we have rn.
Digitization is one thing probably no country comes close to us except China. So i disagree about that too. If you see how other countries managing records etc. you would understand.
Starting point won't matter. India's relative growth compared to major economies in last 10 years has been best. We lost 10 years under UPA because we ran solely on momentum from ABVP reforms but by UPA 2 their momentum ran out. Hence i am very critical of congress. Many things which modi is doing needed to be done atleast 15 years ago.
