Happy belated birthday to Sachin Tendulkar

No 10 is the Jersey of GOATs

Fun fact:

Sachin and Messi (GOATs) are both no 10s

Both lost a WC final then went on to win it 8 years later

Both are manlets

Both are very quiet

Both answer on the field

Known for humblety, calmness and being steadfast

The greatest that ever was

Sachin even said in an interview to the Messi Ronaldo question "Messi is more like me" Greatness knows greatness

Sachin is the only cricketer to win Laureaus award

Only bowler to defend 6 runs in ODI twice

Shami competed with his CT Bowling records

The absolute greatest

Sachin was autist who loved cricket, even now when you see hiim on the ground you can notice his eagerness to bat.

Lucky to have witness his batting even though of late era.

Literally Messi with football. The same script repeated twice

Literally Messi.

Sachin even acknowledged it and said "Messi is more of my type"

For me kohli and sachin are very interesting examples. Kohli probably one of our greatest batsman - once fell off didn't ever tried to work on his weakness.

Saching literally batted hours, didn't bother once hitting his favorite shot to prevent bowlers from utilizing his weakness.

Result is that virat could barely reach at what sachin has.

I always remember that anecdote where his coach would put a coin on the stump and if sachin bats all day without a wicket he would get to win that. That's what sachin has been since his childhood till and after he retired. (Though it's

It's always beautiful to see people who love what they do and the discipline they have desu.

Virat is more of a whiteball great and a good test batter

sachin for the most part of his career was the greatest test and odi batter ever by a mile (excluding don bradman obviously)

Up untill 2011(age 38) , Sachin averaged 58 in tests as a batter and 48 as an odi batter

now for context, during sachin's playing era only 1 ball was used in ODIs which meant lower averages and lower strike rates

But this didn't affect sachin, he striked at around 86-87 in this era when average was around 70-75, 87sr is considered good in odis even today

Not to mention how badly he used to carry the fixer ridden indian team in the 90s

Kohli is surely an ODI great, but Sachin is miles ahead of him (and pretty much everyone)

its a shame sachin didn't get his 100th century in the WC itself

he had 2 opportunities where he got really close

1) Qf against Aus, scored a really quick fifty on tough conditions

2) a bit of luck ridden 80 odd against pak in sf but nonetheless a good innings for those conditions

But as fate would have it he dragged his career till 2012 for the 100 and ended up scoring it against Ban in a useless game

Funniest thing is that Sachin even had atleast one great tournament in IPL :kek:

Ig talent and hardwork is required for success with likes of Virat or Sachin, but ig this extra autism or love for the game is probably what differentiates Sachin and makes him better. Ig some people are just born for greatness like this and once directed at their proper path become GOAT.

I don't know much about football but i remember some threads where anons shared videos of childhood messi playing football as if he was already a GOAT. Sachin is also like that when it comes to kriket.

Not discrediting the talent and hardwork which both kohli and ronaldo have.

even that wc was a pretty good effort from India, I remember before the final dhoni barely had any contributions, and it was mostly raina and yuvi finishing the games

But as fate would have it dhoni would get his big innings in the final itself and it would be remembered as dhoni's wc, despite a total team effort from the team (except sehwag, he was really shit kek)

yeah i remember how sehwag and sachin were opening and batting like gem.

I remember the aura around sachin, with every run everytime camera showed him ground would erupt in cheer.

Yeah tbh even with RONALDO I feel like he isn't as gifted or skilled as messi but he has mastered some of his skills to the point where nobody (except messi ofc) comes close to him on those skills

I would say the similar thing can be applied to Virat

tbh many parallels can be drawn between Football and cricket players

He was alright tbh, sure he gave blistering starts (15-20 runs) but in grand scheme it was barely decent

also one sour memory sticks out that how he wasted review in the final on a literally plumb decision

ultimately its the allrounders who win you WCs

India won 2011 wc because you had yuvi performing with both bat and ball

India lost 2023 wc because Pandya got injured mid way through tournament

and indian then won 2024&25 because you had good allrounders like Hardik, axar and jadeja in the team

tbh I believe if we had Hardik and played one more spinner in 2023 wc final, it would have been an easy win
