Rewatched this after years. What a beautiful show. I hate romance anime in general but this is one exception.
A show about family and reconciling aspirations with harsh reality. During the first season, these characters are teenagers, full of hope and promise. 5-10 years down the line, all of it fades away. Where does it go? How do people lose their youthful vigour? Ambition is abandoned in face of responsibilities.
Everyone around Tomoya and Nagisa is supportive and encouraging them to get closer to each other. Can you expect something like that in low-trust Vishwaguru soyciety?
Love is not when the person you're with is perfect, it's when you accept the person despite their imperfections. Tomoya could've easily married someone else who wasn't a liability like Nagisa (her poor health). Similarly, Nagisa could've married someone who wasn't a delinquent working a dead end job. Despite all their struggles, despite living in a literal dump, they are together because of their love. Even after successive tragedies, Tomoya, his father, Yoshino and the Furukawa family keep fighting, keep living. It's beautiful enough to warm my stone cold truecel soul.
The Japanese look like soulless automatons but they manage to make such soulful kino. Bollywood can never come up with something like this. Best they can do is adapt or copy, need to keep this show hidden from Karan Johar.

When I was young, watching it for the first time, I did not enjoy the slow sol. Rewatching it a few years ago, I enjoyed it so much now.
