Might be a personal bias but I like his 'mendoksai' attitude, his character arc with asuma was also great.
Another great character would be Kakashi, he is everything minato fans think minato is, but more layered

Hands down pain. No one come close except sasuke. Hes got everything great. Depth, complexity, consistency, believability, notivation, goals, emotional impact, uniqueness one of the all time character designs, symbolism and ideals. He is just great. Kishimoto again fucked up with talk no jutsu. It would have been better if he just got killed completely somehow and gave a monologue like sum shit. And turning everyone alive was one of the gayest moves pulled in history. It really had the potential to be a shonen berserk but still gone down the gutters
