Well, its short now. Also thats fault of human artstyle. Height is rarely portrayed accurate with other characters unless they are superficially short. You would see this in every anime. Only fem coded or stylist animes feature tall characters like jjk, bleach, fujo baits of 2000s.

I think Gohan's transformation was not even a saiyan thing. It's probably a human lineage side of transformation, that makes him the first ever super human. I would really like if Tien got one transformation as well.
