The Tamil Nadu government tried to make more ICM happen by giving welfare schemes to ICM couples and would often hold such marriages under the view of the govt. But TN still leads in caste related dishonor killings. Maybe. AFAIK my grandma was a justice party guy and my father used to be an Ambekar study circle union leader before quitting all that. He used to be a DMK hard liner but now pro BJP.

Sorry grandpa not grandma lol. My maternal grandpa was a WW2 British Indian army vet and was a sepoy converted to Christianity and most people in his village followed suit. He's got the most number of medals possible and some IDSM medal for services in active combat zone.
My uncle and my mom don't remember anything about the war stories he used to say because they say they thought those were boring but my great uncle whos like 80 years old remembers it. He's the first graduate in our family and came from literal lower caste poverty aka drinking salt porridge one time a day earning money from cutting wood for funeral pyre poor and only went to school because of Kamarajar's midday meals scheme.

So, my grandmother took a small hanuman statue on a big stone from some old temple ruin nearby and placed it near the house they built in town. It was a small shrine that was literally just the stone. I remember praying to Anjaneyar whenever we used to go to our hometown back when I was a kid.
Fast forward ten twenty years, that small shrine became a big shrine, and became a big temple. And some of our land got grabbed by the local landlord community as theirs after my grandmother passed away. They kept threatening our family that lived there and they couldn't do anything because:
The people that grabbed the land were DMK goons from the said landlord community. They ended up building a huge hanuman temple that blares hindi devotional songs for some reason 24x7. One of our uncles opened a shop right next to the temple and sells stuff like lamps to the visitors to the temple. Makes a lot of money.
