I will sound like a librandu here, but here's my opinion.
SC/ST/OBC classifications are inherently bad and causes problems of self hate and self esteem issues in these people. Obviously you can't just classify everyone as UC instantly or dissolve caste as these are based on real things.
That would have caused the collapse of any hope and existence of India progressing because of the problems with dalit culture right now and before.
Actual solution would have been to classify the top 5% of OBC/SC/STs every 2 years or so as UCs. Being UC may carry some benefits to make it more enticing.
Right now the problems is we are going the opposite way, benefits and money is given to the lower performing caste for no particular reason. Which causes many UC communities to scam their way to the OBC list or even SC list. (Karnataka population is 95% non UC now).
This ultimately just means you are downgrading in spirit and community. What happens when 100% of the people of a state are of backwards caste? We will see soon.
