First things first

JNU has admissions from 2nd year. So people in their first, and second year at colleges try.

50% of all seats are reserved for Dalits etc.

And there are only like 30 to 60 seats depending on department.

Then, for master's, 50% of all seats are reserved for JNU students. And the remaining 50% half of them are again reserved for Dalits etc.

So if a department has like 30-40 seats, you are competing for 6 to 10 of them as a general male.

This becomes evident when you visit JNU.
