Now, I've hear the names of Blakey, Sonny Rollins etc being mentioned by the guys at Steely Dan who I dig very much, I really should get on and listen academically to these men for the life of me. Or I should let it happen organically when sufficient interest is generated.

I really believe it is the other way around, there is something primal about rhythm that it warrants an appropriate reaction for singing.
This was largely a good general, i think you should go ahead and make a new one, if you feel like it because I'm out of inspiration lmao
