Essentially yes, a lot of constitution, articles, and even the laws in judiciary that are followed on the everyday basis comes from many different religious scriptures.
Yes, one can talk about how being "tolerant" is the logical thing to do. However, it is a slippery slide, where predators get bolder and bolder. It eventually reaches a boiling point where one has to commit seriously heinous acts to even control the abomination it has become. Its just better to prevent it first hand with strict backlash.

Be as that may, like i stated in previous post, it is a slippery street. The sects, the gods, the state that take these seriously will not see the pests take chances at insulting such figures or make an attempt to hurt religious sentiments.
