For india ? Yeah . But i cringe out whenever my fellow Indians shamelessly bring his name in the conversation of " top 10 asian fotballers of all time "

Most people love to shit on me by saying “he only played in muh India and could never become an international player” like MY BROTHER IN ALLAH, he was signed by QPR (which used to play in Premier League btw) but Indian government refused to give him a work visa. Sporting CP giving him a chance (CP usually prefers European player) isn’t a small thing either.
I really feel sad for this guy, if he wasn’t Indian he could’ve at least been an average player in Europe.

You can applaud him for his fitness and professionalism considering he's still playing at the age of 40, but he seems to be pretty bad compared to footballers in Western countries and he would probably struggle at League 1/2 level, let alone Championship level. He signed for clubs in America and Portugal when he was 26/29 and couldn't get game-time at either. And all his international goals seem to be against shit teams. Good player also statpad against shit teams, but they generally have to remain at the top of their game to warrant being called up so many times. Sunil Chettri just seems to be the best of a really bunch of Indian footballers so we have no-one to replace him with.
