I dont think thats true, it depends upon family, I am myself aggarwal baniya, one of cousin sister is married to a brahmin guy, they aren't librandus, it was a love marriage with family support from both sides - truth both cultures are similar so there is no compatibility issue.
caste identity is anyway patrilineal, after marriage the girls' caste and gotra becomes the same as her husband.

I as a Brahmin have no problem marrying a Rajput or Baniya girl infact the closest I got to having a gf was in school and she was tyagi
however I dont support inter religious marriage in any case.

Yaar pajeet varna vyavastha doesn't even exist anymore. Varna sankara is also about varna not caste. ICM around same varna isn't barred to begin with. Only brahmins are exceptions because they are one with caste and varna. Current varna is like

That's the funny part, Brahmin are the only one who didn't manage to kang among themself like chimps untill very recent years. Same can't be said for other three Varnas. They all have some form of superiority complex, take Khatris and Baniyas chimping at each other despite both being same Varna

It's not relevant if different castes are part of the same Varna. In technicality being region locked or marrying same specific sub caste is all pretty retarded, you are supposed to marry outside the region within same Varna. I don't care for caste, as long as we are same Varna by lineage and we are different gotras.
