kinos like dhurandhar should have physical media releases on 4K blu-ray with HDR sadly there's no market for such things in lundia

animal still doesn't have any blu ray disc btw

only low quality netflix prints

They are both different kinds of movies. Animal is protagonist centered ensemble while dhurandhar is character study with an ensemble setting. In short, animal is MC centric movie entirely with main character journey, psyche, personality being the main focus. While dhurandhar leads on a much bigger multiple side characters plot. They are not the same type of movies so hard to compare. Baby(Akshay) is more comparable to dhurandhar and animal is more comparable to agneepath

Shouldn't the artists or creators themselves care about it though? Nolan himself ensures that there are bluray releases so that audience or those interested can have one physical copy.

It's very lazy of the producers to not do so.

Dhurandhar — 6 days BookMyShow tickets sold.

Day 1 - 376K

Day 2 - 462K

Day 3 - 490K

Day 4 - 378K

Day 5 - 408K

Day 6 - 444K 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Does anyway have data from animal? I hate discussion about numbers or profit of movies but just want to see the footprint.

preservation and integrity are sadly exclusive to the west and to have things like archival copies and blu-ray releases there should be enough people to give a shit about it or to have enough disposable income to sell and buy

unfortunately there's isn't much of a incentive here and only a subset of the cinema and art films gets this special treatment; ie look at the classics like Sholay getting a directors cur re-release

for most producers movies today are simply an money making schemes where they wouldn't need to give a single hoot about after audience have left with a financially successful box-office

Lundians are just way to poor to own 4k OLED TVs and Blu-Ray players that said, physical media has always been superior to streaming whether it be audio or video.

A 4k blu ray with HDR is capable of providing better A/V than cinemas even.

Timmies have dedicated companies that solely perform the task of restoring old movies shot on 35mm film and releasing them on blu ray

you dont even need 4k displays to enjoy high bitrate 4:4:4 lossless streams even 1080p can do but what percentage the population can even afford a PS4/5 or a discrete blurei player let alone movie disc's? not many I dont think even 98% of our country knows things such as bluray exists or thay music used to come on CD's first as albums kek

>Timmies have dedicated companies that solely perform the task of old movies shot on 35mm film and release them on blu ray

reminds me of this video I watched a while ago where even hobeyist and kinoautists step in when professionals are doing substandard work and scanning dupe films themselves

Yep even a full HD blu ray disc has higher bitrate than the vast majority of streaming services lol and keep in mind that 1080p blu ray is like 20 year old tech at this point

>I dont think even 98% of our country knows things such as bluray exists or thay music used to come on CD's first as albums kek

it seems like jeets skipped the physical media age entirely and went straight to streaming after Jio bhangis gained dominance really brutal

>reminds me of this video I watched a while ago where even hobeyist and kinoautists step in when professionals are doing substandard work and scanning dupe films themselves

If you're on private torrent trackers you'll find many Open matte releases of older movies shit on 35mm film made by hobbyists crazy stuff

i watched Spiderman 2002 and traffic 2000 on open matte the difference is clear

film> digital anyday

>it seems like jeets skipped the physical media age entirely and went straight to streaming after Jio bhangis gained dominance really brutal

I was born in the early 2000s and my dad bought a DVD/CD player when economy wasn't in absolute gutter. I remember the first movie I ever watched on it was the Mr. Bean holidays and have many kino memories attached to it. So we definitely didn't completely skipped the physical state plus I remember people collecting and cherishing their Vinyl and Red Book CD's

>film > digital anyday

true silver halide emulsion is inherently superior when it comes to image rendering and texture but there's a caveat to it, film doesn't age well like literally it fucking disintegrates unless you spend a shit ton to create and Maintain a near perfect environment for it so eventually all the kino's eventually gets lost to oblivion

that linkrel talks further into this topic so do watch it its interesting

i have only watched VCDs in my childhood they were pretty low quality but cheap

equivalent to 240p resolution

i will definitely buy a blu ray player one day and watch BDs although i do torrent blu ray remux releases from trackers

>true silver halide emulsion is inherently superior when it comes to image rendering and texture

film has an organic look because of the grain you can try to emulate it digitally but i don't think you can achieve that warm glowy look of 35mm on a computer

>film doesn't age well

that's true but i think that's what makes film reel special tbh like you need to care for it as it's a real physical thing unlike digital footage which can be accessed simply by the click of a button on a computer seems very soulless tbh

also it's crazy how old analog cameras were actually higher in their digital resolution equivalent than modern day ones lol 35mm reel can have resolution equivalent to "16k" depending upon the condition of it's grain

>equivalent to 240p resolution

I think that was 480i NTSC standard but we use PAL so it should be higher quality but anyways

>film has an organic look because of the grain you can try to emulate it digitally but i don't think you can achieve that warm glowy look of 35mm on a computer

yes thats because it closely imitates to what our eyes see and render because we dont have pixels but rather cones and rods which also produce "grain" of their own, I noth noticed this myself when I was gazing into the blue sky so no wonder it looks natural like its some magic, which it actually is

also fun fact the cinema standard for super-35 also correlates with the surface area of our retina so its the human eye equivalent of "full frame"

>also it's crazy how old analog cameras were actually higher in their digital resolution equivalent than modern day ones lol 35mm reel can have resolution equivalent to "16k" depending upon the condition of it's grain

This is something I learned as well when I started gaining interest in analog photography like I remember seeing a post here on bhach where the OP was a picture taken somewhere in the mid 1900s and anon was surprised how they "invented" (((instagram))) quality cameras kekekekek zoomies really have no clue high fidelity tech existed before they were even conceived into this world
