I answered the OP's question, and when you think about it closely, Indian Muslims are one of the most progressive Muslims around the world. Every reputable Indian Muslim has done something great for their country and represented it across the world, when you compare them to other parts of South Asia.

And one thing in which they are strikingly different from other muslims, is their non-preaching nature. I've seen videos of foreigners travelling to turkey and they always meet someone convincing them to convert to islam. This thing is almost unheard of in india
