To be clear by exaggeration i meant that decline of buddhism had little to do with hunas. Buddhism in india was always a minor school of thought and mostly focused on monastic life. They were always few in numbers just like jains tho many wealthy merchants and ruling dynasties in history embraced those Sramana philosophies at times which is why they have left such profound impact. They were elite religions at times but hinduism had both the numbers and elites and especially during and post guptas it outcompeted others in securing patrons.
