I have a habit of striking up conversations with strangers in public. On the bus, train, airport etc
One thing I have seen is that men and women react very differently.
Men will talk freely, answer questions, ask you about your life, comment on stuff.
Women will always be a little scared at first. Will answer only to the point. After some time some women open up while others stay frigid and don't respond warmly.
While both genders will almost immediately ask about your job, male behaviour doesn't change much depending on your answer while girls' behaviour does. If your job doesn't sound impressive they'll immediately go cold.
