I went on vacation for a week. When I got back and turned on my PC, it worked for maybe a minute before shutting itself off and making a noise weird noise. That fave me mini heartattack immediately. I opened the case to check what is the issue. There was a small dead mouse inside. It was wedged between the GPU and the motherboard, jammed hard enough that the GPU fans couldn’t spin at all. The wiring around it was chewed up. At some point it crawled in, got stuck, and died there. Or it died first and then got stuck. I don’t really know, and I don’t think there’s a version of the story where that detail makes it better. I live on the third floor. There are no rats in the whole soyciety. None in the apartment. I’ve never seen one anywhere near here. I still don’t understand how it even got inside the case. The only explanation is that it came in with something some box, some bag, something I carried in without thinking. Now the GPU is dead, the motherboard might be dead, and I’m waiting to find out how bad the damage really is. I already know it’s going to be expensive in a way that’s not survivable but also not dramatic enough to justify complaining about. Just enough to demoralise me
