Are western indians more entrepreneural than east indians(like bengalis)?

Why western india has more successful mercantile communities but east india does not. Even bengal has marwaris doing much of the commerce there. Similarly, baniyas and khatris are running businesses all over india. If i am not wrong bengal doesnt even have a vaishya grouping in its regional cáste system. Is there any sociocultural, historical reason for it? Do you think it plays into their inclination for communism partly? Has western india always been more business oriented since IVC days? But even south india is quite entrepreneural unlike east india. What explains the difference.

WB culture is more focused on abstract pursuits like science research and arts, even sports (most attendance in any recent test match in India was in edens, same for football)

But you dont hear of any famous mercantile communities from east india. From west india we have baniyas, jains, khatris etc. Even in south, shetty, reddy etc are into business. And islam is actually quite pro entrepreneurship. Arabs were a race of traders and merchants themselves. Besides islam has been equally if not more pervasive in western subcontinent. British rule affected south as much.
>communism
It is a chicken and egg problem. Did communism make them less entrepreneural or did being less entrepreneural already allowed communism as an ideology to take hold?

Is it a part of their national character? It is interesting to find parallel of this disparity in europe between much more entrepreneural and mercantile western europe and agrarian feudalistic eastern europe which gravitated towards communism.

Personally, not a fan of great men theory to explain history and disparities. It feels incomplete as explanation. I lean more towards understanding history and nations through lens of national character and historical materialism.
