They were stopped barely 8kms, and that was because of the gap in the original plan due to the redeployment, if they attacked on schedule, Moscow wouldn't have the fresh Eastern units it did in our timeline, that is an easy German victory, Moscow was the primary hub for the entire Soviet logistical system and also the primary hub for distributing lend leased equipment. This would collapse Soviet logistics. Anyone with even a basic idea of wargaming knows it would be Soviet game over...
