Not sure but my sister's wedding was 20 lakh.
But we didn't have to spend much on our education because she and I all got merit seat(My engineering education cost was 1 lakh and her medicine cost was 5 lakh).
My honest guess is that people who spend that much on wedding are usually either rich wagies like me or my sister who usually get good merit seats or bijiness kids for whom investing that much in education is waste.

Not dowry cost, we are a lib family and against dowry. It's mostly throwing a grand wedding function and sheit. Her wedding dress itself cost 2 lakh iirc.
