Its government's fault for not conducting a separate exam for it. IFS is def not for everyone. Conducting it along with other generalist services is not good. Even many IFS officers think similar
IFS is a very understaffed service. More US FSOs are there in India than the entire IFS cadre
You can't do much about not power since the job is of a diplomat. Only Ambassadors/HCs/Secretaries have power. PSI or even hawaldar has more power because Indians fear them
Ngl there shouldn't be corruption in IFS. You can still do corruption by faking expenditure bills
