Middle class isn't only about the income, i.e percentile, It's other things, as in social experience. Like for people like me our parents would have studied and worked to get it and similarly the emphasis on us getting a btech or whatever degree. Whereas the actual upper class (generational wealth) lives completely different lives, they have yachts party go abroad multiple times a year, etc etc. Didn't really properly word it but I trust you get the idea.

at first it may seem it's lot but not really, you end up paying large chunk of it as tax. he doesn't specify if 1cr is fixed or has variable components or the usual tardness of 'shares' so on.
with 1 crore you may end up with as low as 60lpa if not more in hand. which is yes rich but if you want say buy land etc. or products at that level you will see limited.
