They didnt build a proper empire like mughals. They just established a base at delhi and would launch raiding expeditions periodically. It took them quite some time to learn how to run economies and to give up their old turkic ways. They were also very unstable politically and would often lose control of territories.

His reign was also very long and he really consolidated the empire well. His descendants bore the fruits of his work but aurangzeb squandered it all by persecuting hindus, sikhs and losing former allies. Sometimes i wonder how things could hv been dara sikoh was the emperor. He was very tolerant. Maybe mughals would have never ventured in deccan or would have found it easier with support of allies. Marathas would have only fought deccan sultanates and you would have a strong Hindustani empire in north and maratha empire in south until one takes over another.
