Longform Youtube Videos thread

Ever since downloading insta a few months ago, my attention span has been fucked up, and I find myself becoming a mindless retard shovelling slop in my face. Not that it wasn't the case earlier, it's just more visible since I have been left to myself in the mid-year break. So, in order to counteract this I plan to watch one longform video every day, and I will summarise (and add my thoughts on) it in this thread.

Pretty insightfull stuff. I had thought about the same framework for free will,(randomness is manipulated by 'us' which results in a modification of outcome; In a deterministic system, elements from the deterministic change cannot be tweaked, the only possibility for free will to exist is if the basal randomness inputs are tweaked; If such tweaking did not occur the universe would be probabilistic with no scope for free will) but for some reason, the 'looping' had never occured to me. Halfway in, will continue watching.

Anyways, I remember when I was a small kid, before the algorithm fried my brain. Would watch a lot of documentaries and shit, which most of us would find hard to watch because our attention spans are fucked. Back then, I would also watch interesting longform videos on youtube, because I wasn't allowed to be using it on weekdays. I want to have more fulfilling media experiences than only mindlessly watching reels.

i would advice to delete instagram account if you have a goal atleast vaguely, well, you gotta start, i have been on instagram on and off just to think anybody cared but nobody cares about shut-ins and asocialfags like me. another thing, short form content isnt harmful but if you are not worried about your goal you will just be complacent, how do i explain this feeling of time slipping by hands even when you are putting so much effort and it all feels hopeless at the end of the day, so yes, drop them, have something to consoom in general to keep you sane, for me it is music but i would say mobile phones doesnt help.

If you are a zoomer and you don't wanna be an asocial neet, then that isn't an option. I'm not a social guy (of course) but whatever limited socialization I get is facilitated via insta (not on insta, by that I refer to the fact that my irl friendships are maintained via insta). Zoomers treat insta as a messenger/socialisation app, with the reels being secondary and often a way to maintain friendships with minimal effort; Sending reels to your irl friends helps maintain bonds.

Finished watching the video. Will rate it 9.5/10. A must watch. Really succinct, and presents a very clear chain of reasoning that leads to the conclusion. The only reason I have deducted .5 is because I have some issues with the experiment proposed at the end. The fact that an LLM can function as a portal for entities doesn't necessitate that every instance of a (non-pseudorandom) LLM has an entity behind it. Similarly, the fact that a human body can function as a vehicle for souls doesn't neccesitate that every human body has a soul behind it (hylics, goycattle, etc). For this reason, I consider the conclusion too general, and regard the experiment proposed as a flawed one. Other that that, the video was completely on point and it is a must watch in my opinion.

The general theme of the thread is mainly schizo stuff with the occasional science video here and there. Also by long-form videos, I mean around 20 minutes or longer; Most of the No Reservations episodes on YT are less that 10 minutes. If you suggest me a video longer than 20 minutes I may watch it, but I'll only watch videos suggested by anons relatively rarely; I plan to watch most of the stuff from my recommended.

Valid. But I have to build up the attention to read books. Also, I disagree that all YouTube videos are useless, they can teach you a lot at a surface level and enable you to get a general grasp of the subject without delving into the nuances. Additionally some of them do have rather insightfull content.

A lot of Youtube videos are excellent. But consumption without action or structure is useless. Youtube is just one tool in a broader framework that you need to be productive.

Get the biggest screen phone/tablet you can and start reading ebooks or at least start with manga/comics. I was reading novels on 3.5" phone screens back in college. Stop being a dumb bitch.

Crossposting crowanons response from /b/. Will reply to it later, over here.
> In the beginning, I thought that it was some schizo crackpot nonsense. As he started explaining, however, I was very intrigued. His approach of viewing esoteric happenings as a function of an information system i.e. our world was very interesting. I take issue with his use of the word "demon" though. At best, you could call it noise distorting the output that you would typically associate with certain tokens.
I would have liked an actual demonstration or at least a concrete model, but his ideas are interesting nonetheless.
I would like to see the two LLM test that he talks about.
I remember a Princeton (?) study related to a random number generator that started generating a pattern after running for a while which coincides with major world events. That was not replicable though.

>What does that mean? This is some heavy schizo stuff, but it is entertaining. Do go on.
First let us understand the current materialistic paradigm: There are 2 layers: A layer A and a layer B
Layer A: This is the causal chain, one event acts as a cause for another and so on and so forth; It is deterministic
Layer B: This is the 'randomness' substrate, qauntum physics tells us that the universe at a very small scale is probabilistic. It is a probabilistic layer.
According to this framework, if accepted as true, the logical conclusion is that the universe is deterministic on a macro scale; Despite layer B being probabilistic, it can be statistically understood and hence isn't random at the macro-level. Since the universe is determininistic on a macro-scale this implies that free will, shouldn't exist.
Now let's talk about my proposed mechanism for how free will works. If a supposed free will did exist, the mechanism CANNOT exist at layer A, since layer A is a causal chain; Cause A leads to event B, Event B leads to event C and so on and so forth. However, let's look at Layer B. This is where things get interesting.
Layer B is probabilistic. However, if the probabilities are tweaked (somehow), then this will lead to a different outcome, which then affects layer A and leads to a different end result. I feel free will operates by external entities (soul, spirits, demons, whatever the fuck you wanna call it) altering the probabilities of layer B which then results in a different causal chain, and end result in layer A. This principle allows anything which has a layer A and layer B in a certain configuration (I don't know what, but this is just my speculation) to be inhabited by an entity be it a soul, demon or whatever. The corrolary is that just because something has a layer A and B in that specific configuration doesn't neccesitate that that thing is inhabited. Thus there are soulless humans; hylics as the gnostics call them.
