People in India mistake buffalo's meat with beef/cow's meat. Majority of people eat buffalo's meat & mutton (goat's meat) here, and it includes muslims, hindus and sikhs. We're also the 4th largest exporter of buffalo's meat (not beef/cow's meat). Maybe in south India people eat beef, but it's hardly anywhere in north.

Cows as a Source of Dairy:
Cows provide milk,ghee etc which is far more valuable and essential than beef due to its nutritional benefits.
Cows in Agriculture:

Cows in Transportation: Cows have also been used for travel and trade, especially in rural areas, where they facilitated economic movement before the advent of mechanical transport.
Given these roles, the question arises: would it be justified to kill such a valuable and multifaceted animal? Killing a cow deprives society of its long-term benefits, making it a morally questionable choice.

Savarkar was in favor of allowing cow slaughter. I fully disagree with them. Forget the scriptural support (which is the only essential argument imo).
It is RED LINE. It was used to humiliate our ancestors. And just for respecting their sacrifice, this is a line that me and many others refuse to withdraw from.

Cows and animals in general should not be harmed and abused. Again, if somebody wants to do that for some mechanical reasons like industrial meat production or money then they are wrong and what they are doing is evil.

The point of Savarkar, was a Coherent modern version of political Hinduism that actually focused on security and identity.
