Dumb take, Here's why -
1. Dowry turns marriage into a transaction, not a partnership. When families start pricing grooms, women stop being seen as people and start being seen as liabilities. That mindset feeds abuse, harassment and even violence when expectations are not met. A society that claims to value family should not run marriages like shady business deals.
2. Dowry reinforces gender inequality at every level. It tells girls from birth that their parents must pay to get rid of them, while boys are treated as investments. This warps upbringing, education choices and self worth. You cannot talk about progress while keeping a system that openly ranks one gender above the other.
3. Dowry corrodes moral and social values. It encourages greed, debt and social pressure, especially on poorer families who try to keep up appearances. Instead of focusing on compatibility, character and mutual respect, the conversation becomes about cash, cars and status. That is social decay, not tradition.
Now about women modernizing and having freedom. Let women wear what they want, work where they want and live how they want because they are autonomous human beings, not cultural property. Modernization is not moral decay. It is simply access to choice, safety and opportunity. When women have rights and freedom, societies become healthier, more educated and more stable. Restricting women has never made a civilization stronger, only more fearful.
And before someone screams culture, Hinduism itself was never anti rights. Ancient Hindu society had women philosophers like Gargi and Maitreyi debating metaphysics with men. The concept of Shakti literally places feminine power at the center of the universe. Ardhanarishvara represents divinity as both male and female in one form. Women had stridhan which was their own property, and swayamvara where they chose their partner. This is not fringe stuff, it is core philosophy.
So yeah, opposing dowry and supporting women’s freedom is not western brainwashing. It is closer to both basic ethics and the deeper spirit of Hindu thought. If anything, the regressive parts are the later social distortions. Think about it instead of rage posting.

Women don't pay as much as taxes as men still they have seperate metro and train section. Plus ladli bhen yojna and all that when the one paying for that is men. We should separate men and women society and put them into separate eco system like we do to other animal

Which they already are when dowry is banned. Also we treating women like people is why justice system is fucked. Women have caused more false cases like rape and fake dowry to so much extent that no one believes them.

honestly it is a pretty interesting demographic puzzle when you look at it through a structural lens. the whole system historically treated men as nothing more than a social security plan, right? the preference for male children was basically just an economic survival tactic because the labor market was so skewed and the social safety nets were nonexistent. it turned sons into these utilitarian objects expected to provide a return on investment for decades.
if you normalize women in the workforce, you effectively double the human capital without needing more bodies, which logically makes a massive population less of a necessity. having a leaner population like keeping it under 500 million would probably alleviate the insane pressure on infrastructure and resources. a 1:1 gender ratio combined with a smaller, more highly skilled population would shift the culture from "quantity for survival" to "quality of life."
it is wild how much of our social baggage just comes down to outdated economic dependencies.

I havent seen it irl due to my (fortunately) priveledged background but i have still heard about irl cases and its still kinda prevalent

It is objectively true that a massive chunk of reported rape and dowry cases end up being total fabrications, but that is usually because the only women with enough social capital to actually walk into a station and file a report are already coming from privileged backgrounds. we are looking at a judicial system that needs a complete overhaul because it is genuinely rotten to the core.
at the same time, people ignore that probably 70 or 80 percent of actual, rape and dowry harassment never even make it into the official stats. we have to fix the false reporting and the massive under reporting simultaneously if we ever want a functional society. our global reputation is honestly in the gutter because people keep labeling us the rape capital. even though that is technically false info since the usa and south africa have higher recorded rates, and plenty of islamic countries have legal frameworks that basically permit it, the reality on the ground here is still grim. sexual harassment is way too widespread and needs a prompt systemic fix.
the ultimate metric is simple. until a woman feels perfectly fine walking outside alone at 1am, we haven't done enough. we need to gut and rebuild the police, the courts, and the security services, but more importantly, we have to fix the collective mindset.

dowry is banned, i know, but do you genuinely think that's actually implemented? i haven't seen it in real life because of my fortunately privileged background, but i’ve still heard about actual cases and it’s clearly still prevalent.
