I made the slumbai local thread earlier this morning, complaining about khatara open doors.

Is Ashwini Vaishnav lurking here or what?

countless such deaths have happened before but railway never took such quick action, it took multiple Jeet deaths at once for this to be announced.

so according to you, instead of solving the immediate problem and then moving to next one we should just sit and let people die until bigger problem is solved?

Doing this is better than what we have now

Nope, current track density is not enough to sustain stupendous rise in trains.

Mumbai metro can offset one chunk, work has sped up under fadnavis. Second local train network needs to be expanded. AC trains should be increased - cuz packing heavily dense trains with doors close will result in indirect casualties probably worse than earlier.

Mumbai needs satellite cities pune should have been developed as such but that's separate.

Unless they somehow prevent jampacked trains, how does shutting doors off of the trains packed with people in peak summer feel like a quick solution anamas?

It can make things worse.

having gates will make sure people dont die off falling from the train, also common sense (rare) would tell people to get off or not aboard a train which is already overcrowded and cannot even close the door

Do we have anything to see into this matter? Is the train traffic and data available? I can bet an average bhachcels can create a better model than whatever they are using now.

Issue is the peak demand, you can get the number of trains running at a certain time. Track length and density of the mumbai locals.

Average speed of the local trains, frequency can give idea.
