Aside from average trade, agricultural and rulers satavahans, vakatakas, chalukya, rashtrakutas and jadhava shilahars. I mean be specific with your questions. If you're asking dominant caste then there were always a period in history when a king of specific caste rules and his caste has upper hand. Last being jadhava and silharas of such before bohmani. If your asking majority people, then it was probably kunbis and malah. And marathas most probably came from kunbis which was agrigarian caste.

Mostly united under one kingdom. Most of maharshtra was never like UP. Most of it was forests. Nothing like UP
