Yaar, good product are born out of competition between companies. For eg, for the F35 program they were 2 prototype aircraft built, one from Boeing and other from Lockheed Martin. And Lockheed Martin won the contract because they built a better plane. In India, all Design work is done by ADA/HAL/DRDO. There is no competition between designs of different companies. Private sector players like TASL or L&T are mostly going to get involved in production once the design is already finalised. What would be ideal for india is to have 2 or 3 good private companies fighting for their design to win the contract. But yes, the speed with which the zorawar entered production has surprised me.
