The urban body and related rules were literally created in 1972, this is the first time that government has now started to work on the reforms to give more power to mayors, fiscal budget, better planning etc.
It came as a downstream movement of the smart city and many other central government schemes which had lots of small success.
I can literally pin point and share these works in various cities, half the places it is under work. Even in delhi the mountain heaps of garbage are being removed, recycled due to new government and the area is being greenified. It will take atleast two years to have those cleared.
