Vlub culture is more emphasized in Tier-1 upper class schools because the extra-curricular activities count in when they fill forms for foreign colleges.

yes we had robotics club, astronomy club and many more.
I was part of robotics club for 2 years and then joined astronomy club
there were teachers assigned to the clubs and we did all sorts of activities, we had our own club room or lab, whatever you call it.
In robotics we got robotics kit, it had programmable controller thing it was for kids, so had a very basic programming language, we made path tracer.
In astronomy club we basicallg did star gazing, I remember seeing Jupiter, we had telescopes and stuff, school ke chhat pe rakha tha unko, we even did a evening meet once, and saw moon and some stars.

pretty sure this is mandatory in many schools across this country I was in s&g as well up until like 9th and got to attend the special leaders camp which was cool
made many memories there and would go as far as to say they were some of my best days from school

There were sports related, I was in a boxing thingy in my school, I joined because we were allowed to skip morning assembly and some classes too, there was a kid from my school that represented India in a sport, similarly there was a music related group, science related that did some projects and preped for olympiad type exams, I don't know if you can call these clubs.

I am from a tier 2 city in gujarat yaar, the school wasn't really a rich fag school but yeah it was pretty advanced, woth these sort of things, we had foreigners coming in for all sorts of seminars and research work, there were foreign exchange students too, I had made friends with a guy named frank, he was from Europe, was our senior, another guy in my class introduced me to him.
Actually after 8th I changed schools, and went to an actual rich fag (the kind where students come in mercedes and shit), amd this school was mid compared to the previous one, it was more a legacy school, it used to be at the top back in the day, english style boarding school.

I was part of the computer science club and our entire effort went to get funds to make hardware shit, conduct 'hackathon' where we would slide in game competitions as one of the events.

Yaar we had clubs but it took 8 gorillion cycles just to get it registered and assigned a meeting room. Then was the matter of finding a suitable room to set up all our shit in.
Nobody helped. I and a few others had to carry in all equipment by ourselves, every week on Friday there was this one randi from student council came with a fuckass clipboard and oversized fountain pen and wasted time by taking inventory of all the shit we had to see the condition. I think she was secretly into the club president because she took way too fucking long with us and barely gave a fuck about other clubs
That moti bhaisan used to take out her frustration over not getting his BDL on me and another guy. She used to complain about us not keeping the room clean, not having enough members to operate, our club not having enough value or purpose to exist, one day I couldn't take it anymore and pushed her out. When she opened her mouth to protest i shut the door in her face and closed the blinds so we wouldn't see her.
She ignored all of us after that till graduation kek

This actually happens tho. in da skool i went in there were some nerds that were hella bent on making rockets. they made shit using materials they got from indiamart then went outside in the grounds to launch it, they were successful. it was bretty gud stuff
