This is sadly true. In the old days, women had lower economic opportunities and stayed stuck in toxic marriages. Family pressure also ensured that there was a huge social cost if you tried to get divorced. Further, things like retirement pensions and paid caretakers didn't exist. Children were basically some kind of retirement plan for most parents.
Today with online dating, internet pornography, relaxed pressure from family, and ample economic opportunities for all, there is really no reason to get married or sit and work through relationship challenges. Kids are also a huge money sink, and we already have too many people than we can put into productive labor for society.
