There are only two aircraft which are available to IAF which have AESA radar and a comparable BVR, one is rafale but other is Tejas. Rafale is closed source but Tejas can utilize the IAF's data link and have bvr guided by the AWAC.
Tejas created the ecosystem without which neither Tejas mk2, nor AMCA would ever be possible.

Let's see what cope HAL/DRDO comes up with when the AMCA/TEJAS MK2 comes 15 years late. And what ecosystem are you talking about? Both Tejas and the F 35 had their first prototype flights in 2001. As of today, more than 1200 F-35 have been produced and have seen an impressive combat record against iran. Only 38 Tejas have been made out of which 2 have already crashed ( above 5% crash rate). Even pakis have seen more export success with their JF 17 (which has seen combat against india). The Tejas didn't even take part in operation sindoor. Because the IAF knows how bad it is.

I agree with you on that one. IAF keeps changing design requirements as soon as they get finalised. That's one of the reasons why the LCA programme took so long. The indian Navy on the other hand better decisions ( other than the diesel submarine program ).

Even they have fair share of sabotage but atleast they carry out R&D and support it thanks to the low budget they had to be innovative. They are going to induct 19 warships this year alone which is significant force multiplier but soon after the production lines will go idle.
P77, next gen submarines have caused a lot of issues, decade of delay leading to pakistan operating subs with AIP before Navy does.
Navy also soft sabotaged INS Vikrant which caused limitations on what kind of fighter jets could operate from the deck.

For decades we sabotaged, our indigenous program, Maruts, HF-xx in favour of mig21, it could have if supported lead to creation of our own jaguars, mirage 2000 way back but short sightedness.

Then sabotage of Kaveri program, it was not sabotage but soft one, Tejas needed an engine asap to make the project succeed and GExxx series engines were no nonsense only mistake was not going all in in Kaveri as a parallel program. Our current cockroach 'defense secretary' was filled with hubris when it came to UCAV and Kaveri project even now. Hopefully with certification concluding this year, further delivery of D1 and D2 engines CCS will approve UCAV.
So this is half the story. The cockroach bhosaddogs and importjeets should be lined up and acked. This is mercy for what they deserve other wise.
