to be honest, developed countries don't really have "walkable" footpaths either.

over here whenever it snows they only shovel it 50% of the time and the rest, they throw salt over it. So when anyone tries to walk on it, they end up falling into the half-frozen muddy slush...

i don't like tamil/dravidian nationalists but the guy has a point

do you really think indian walkable infra is comparable to those countries? are you in america or canada?

because when we walk about walkable infra these two countries are not the reference it's european countries.

even for all the car centric infra usa has nice walkable infra. way better than indians.

also if shit is bad at one place doesn't mean we should not have better things at our place, weird logic

all NRIs are anti nationals.

European countries tend to have a lot better public transit, i agree, but can it really be considered a right if most people across Earth don't have them? It could be said that getting around is less of sarkari problem and more of personal responsibility

pardon, I didn't mean all indian infra. It is comparable to living in Mumbai, Gurgaon, Chandigarh or Bangalore. It may be there in more cities but these are the only ones i have personally seen where method of commuting is similar to here

if this is your opinion on public infra then what even should say. you don't understand or care about idea of public infra des.

and indian cities have sections of really nice infra but most older parts are real bad and messed up. it's very adhoc.

just relying entirely on the State for mobility is a luxury we can't really have yet. In developing economies, personal responsibility (bikes, cars, private transit etc.) is what actually keeps the country moving while the government plays catch-up for the next few decades. It would take a massive amount of funds to get to the level of infra you see in say, France or Singapore (buses and metro arriving every 4-5min )

i think you are brutally wrong on this one, considering countries worse off than india have better city infra.

i am talking even in pci. you can't give excuses like lack of funds to institutions like BMC. i can tag you images of how they work - it's manual adhoc.

if we can have flyovers, four laning of roads within the city we can easily carve out cycle and walkable infra. and these are superior to anything.

brts and metro lite can do wonders. in general almost top 50 of all indian cities have capacity to develop these - if not government can easily fund these.

but the problem is not just this, entire city governance is fucked up and the absolute state of city infra is the symptom of this disease.

>problem is not just this, entire city governance is fucked up and the absolute state of city infra is the symptom of this disease.

problem is not muh corruption, problem is that that kind of planning cannot work in India yet. Look at our streets, they are too chaotic because its how the society here functions. asking government to carve out BRTS or cycle lanes is 90% of the time going to result in half-finished projects (see Bengaluru's suburban rail or less recently smart city project). Only exception to this was delhi metro because guess what, half the city was planned out so decent public transit was, given a few decades, bound to happen

disagree but i am too tired to bother desu.

most of the cases of failures related to BRTs are solely due to failure in planning the routes, i think jaipur metro is another case of how it was a failure.

it's hubris to see the state of indian city infra and sugggest we should just carry on.

That's no reason to steal videos or images from others. Do you have any idea how hard I've worked to build a collection of videos/pics for starting threads? I literally have a folder on my phone called "thread starters" where I store such pics/vids that will pull max clicks and views from other chancels.
