By that logic, arab peninsula and indian subcontinent also should be classified as continents. They are surrounded by even higher mountains. Unlike subcon and arab peninsula, europe doesnt exist on its independent tectonic plate. Its just western extension of eurasian plate. Europe is a continent purely due to eurocentrism.
