The brains behind Mauryan empire was punjabi polymath Chanakya who was the mentor, political advisor and later the prime minister of chandragupta maurya. They forged an army of kambojas and other northwestern warriors and launched an invasion from northwest to uproot nandas and install chandragupta on the throne of pataliputra. Mauryan empire was established and expanded by joint efforts of punjabis and biharis.
