because a college degree isnt for learning, its to delay the workforce to enter the market. if people just poured in the market, hell will break loose. oldfucks would barely stand chance in non senior positions and competition would be massive, college drains your 4years in whole larp of "stoody" but eventually you realize whatever you learn is by yourself or by working in industry, ie through online self stoody or internships(in case of mech/electrical)

Everything in a cse degree can be learnt from home, you don't even need college
Atleast in other branches there is need for lab and equipments etc

might sound cliche but networking and a good cgpa will take you places, ofcourse, its very random, i am not going put out "%" chances of getting there by networking or by grinding skills like dsa. its actually very random. just do something. if cant be social, grind skills to an extent, its all a cakewalk.
