I think, the ideal evolution of skin color gene will be ability to instantly go as black as night while going as light as day. We do tan, just not that efficiently. If right kind of gene mutated from it, color kanging would become worthless in the future and only pheno will matter.

Not really, poor sunlight absorption and high tanning makes it close to impossible to do the needphool of generating Vit D, specially if you do not consume meat.

Agreed, but majority of people with lighter skin do better in winters, nordics for example. In the ideal setting one simply changes their skin tone to adjust to conditions. Which is something the asian group of people do (as a whole) that most white, blacks and even hispanics struggle with.

Vitamin D is only produced under very specific lighting circumtsances (angle + right UV spectrum) , and darker skinned people can simply top off their Vitamin D by... exposing more skin.
Exposing your back to the sun as a black person will give you enough vitamin D for a couple of weeks.
The opposite isn't true, Whites need to consistently avoid the sun or they will take direct damage and in the long run die from cancer
