Blue collar jobs are literally the foundation of civilization. Without leatherworker, carpenter, blacksmiths, stonesmiths, potter etc civilization is not possible

Yeah but tanning was regarded as a very low status trade in every society.

I think much of it was usually sold to mochi/cobbler for shoemaking which were later bought by people. Leather was also used for making horse saddles straps and protective gear for armies. Leather has been also used as membrane of temple tablas and war drums.

Like I said, hindus don't deserve services of V4s and antyajas. Absolutely unreal to me that the kshatriya using leather straps for armour, saddle belts, the vaishya using leather for carrying goods in bags, the shudra using leather bags to carry his tools looked down upon the Chamar.

Tanners were looked down upon in every society, medieval europe as well. It was a very dirty trade that the poorest entered into. William the conqueror was illegitimate child of his father a nobleman with a tanner's daughter and he was always insecure about it and was often mocked for it.

Yeah but it was an animal product. Not like human waste workers or whatever.

>urine rinsed leather

>dung shit

But people did use them, things that went through that. If people who touch those stuff weren't considered fit for touching then same goes for product of those processes. You wouldn't wear a cotton rinsed in urine today? Would you?

You are assuming UCs were begging for their services. They werent. Antyajas did those jobs for their daily bread and butter just like mazdoors do mazdoori, chuhras clean toilets today while the rich live socially separate lives. Its same as how today poor youth begs gobarmint and private companies for rozgaar to feed himself and his family. Not everyone has it in him to be an employer instead of employee.

Sure, but eventually the delinking from hinduism was to happen and is already underway

In many places many shudra jobs specifically for ritual materials are getting vacated

We have transitioned from feudal society to a post industrial one so old trades are dead. We now have a new class structure that has evolved from older one just like it happened in west during industrialisation. Former upper classes became the bourgeoisie while peasants became factory workers and the bottomost underclass became white trash. Low class jobs of today are not all the same as those of feudal period.

Exactly, and this is the eventual death of hindu varna vyavastha and hence hinduism. Without Varna Vyavastha there is no hinduism.

It is a combination of industrialisation and these jobs being stigmatised

Varna vyavastha has always been theoretical. What mattered in past and has always mattered was social class and jati(kinship group). Those are here to stay as long as hierarchical society exists.

>classism

Castism is just that actually in south asian context. Current elites from the same old historically powerful groups and lower strata is largely composed of former lower cast groups.
