I am personally more into applied side of things, I like combinatorics and analysis.
As for materials science, it is by far the most critical area of research and development in 21st century, pajeets do not relly understand how critical chemical research really is, and yeah idk why you think otherwise by CS is literally a subfield of Mathematics, mathematicians invented the computer bro, see for yourself
