I prepared a checklist to PROTECT myself from making stupid decisions and fall into traps while searching for job. The best protection is prevention. Unemployment is a disease and employers take advantage of the corrupting nature of it and exploit desperate job seekers. I used ChatGPT for help but I put some thought into it, and also some personal traumatic experiences. Give suggestions to remove or improve it. Am I missing any more important warnings signs that I should look out for?

CHECKLIST

[ ] Job description is vague, unclear, or filled with excessive corporate jargon

[ ] Job description appears AI-generated or “quirky” and subtly normalizes multitasking, overtime, or hustle

[ ] One role combines multiple responsibilities that should normally be separate roles

[ ] Customer-facing or client-facing role without clear boundaries or support

[ ] Commute is greater than 15 km from home

[ ] Salary appears unreasonable (less than 3 LPA including PF and benefits)

[ ] Salary is not disclosed in the job advertisement

[ ] Company does not have a proper website or consistent digital presence

[ ] Company branding, logo, or website content appears cheaply made or AI-generated

[ ] Photos of office or team online look staged, inconsistent, or suspicious

[ ] Street view shows a rented apartment, house, or unclear commercial setup

[ ] Company exists but has repeated negative reviews mentioning toxicity, exploitation, or scams

[ ] Company appears to be a consultancy or third party pretending to be a direct employer

[ ] Money asked at any stage

[ ] Recruiter communicates only via chat or WhatsApp and avoids calls or official email

[ ] Recruiter’s tone on calls feels dismissive, rushed, or disrespectful

[ ] You feel instinctively anxious, scared, or pressured after calls

[ ] Pressure to act immediately without time to think

[ ] Interview keeps getting postponed or rescheduled repeatedly

[ ] You receive a call long after applying (weeks or a month later) without explanation

[ ] Asked for personal information such as Aadhaar, bank details, or family details at any point unnecessarily

[ ] Interviewer makes you wait for more than 30 minutes to signal importance or control

[ ] Interview focuses more on obedience, availability, or sacrifice than skills

[ ] Interviewer is rude, condescending, or uses fear or urgency

[ ] Responsibilities mentioned in interview exceed what was written in the job description

[ ] Role scope increases gradually during the interview conversation

[ ] Interview normalizes long hours, weekend work, or constant availability

[ ] Interview promotes a “we are a family” culture

[ ] Interview feels chaotic, unstructured, or disrespectful of your time

[ ] You leave the interview feeling uneasy, unsafe, or emotionally drained

[ ] Notice period is more than 3 months

[ ] One-year bond or longer with penalties

[ ] Six-day work week including weekends

[ ] Position is labeled “trainee” but expectations match a full-time role

[ ] Stipend or salary is unclear or does not align with workload

[ ] Company uses stipend instead of salary to avoid full-time benefits

[ ] Full-time benefits (PF, leave, insurance) are missing or vague

[ ] No written offer letter provided

[ ] Salary, bond, role, or benefits are communicated only orally

[ ] Pressure to join or sign documents immediately during or before interview

[ ] Asked for original documents or sensitive personal data before offer letter

This is actually a very good list anon. Any of this stuff makes it a red flag and you should leave at the first chance you get.
