>The government gives IFS afsars a hefty foreign allowance with zero tax when posted abroad

>The allowances ranges from atleast 3.5lpm to 6lpm.

>Since all charges are covered by the MEA, IFS afsars save all of their foreign allowances.

>IFS afsars are provided with a 2-3BHK flats in posh neighbourhoods and diplomatic enclaves of the country to keep Indian diplomatic image as strong

>IFS afsars are given a diplomatic passport(maroon) due to which they don't go through humiliation ritual like ordinary lundians

>3 of 5 National Security Advisors have been from IFS cadre

>IFS afsars get diplomatic discounts and loans, due to which they could buy expensive cars, use it for 3 years and sell it to 3rd party at a profit

>IFS afsars work in political, economical, trade, culture and consular wing.

Training:

>IFS(Indian Foreign Services) recruits through UPSC CSE exam

>IFS for the year 2026 has 16 General vacancies(Total-37)

>IFS afsars are trained at LBSNAA, Mussoorie and SSIFS, New Delhi.

>During their training program, IFS afsars meet VVIPs (President, Vice President, Prime Minister, External Affairs Minister and the Foreign Secretary)

>Depending on their compulsory foreign language chosen, they'll start the training at that country's embassy as a third secretary. Upon learning the language, they pass the CFL exam by MoD and become second secretary.

>Entire trainng period ranges from 2 year 3 months to 3 year 3 months. Harder languages like Russian, Japanese and Mandarin take one year extra. These will have no effect on the IFS afsar's promotion

What are the chances of an IFS afsar ending up in Nippon, and if he does what would be purpose of his life?

>What are the chances of an IFS afsar ending up in Nippon

If you opt for Japanese as your CFL, 100%.

>what would be purpose of his life?

You'll do work in the embassy in Tokyo and consulate at Osaka. You get invited to dinners and parties over there. You can go to conventions. Or you can Jaishankarmaxx

Choosing Japanese, Mandarin or Russian adds 1 year extra to the training. So you'll spend 2 years in Japan at the start of your career. You'll be paid around 5Lpm

>ASO in MEA has to do 2-3 years at MEA, New Delhi, after which they'll get sent abroad. ASO in MEA also get tax free, hefty foreign allowances, a little less than IFS-A ppl but still plenty

>US diplomats working in India=entire IFS staff existing by numbers
